Meet Our Veterinary Team
We're glad you're here!
Westwood Pet Care was started in 2002 on the rural outskirts of town, but is now surrounded by the growing, lovely city of Dothan!
Our focus is on helping people through their pets. We have a fantastic staff and team and understand the emotional attachments each of our clients have to their pets. We strive to treat every pet as our own. We also have a very family oriented practice for our staff and clients.
Westwood Pet Care adopted the Cutest Peanut in Town in September 2022, and it welcomes all clients and pets to this day!
Dr. Joki
Dr. Joki has been passionate about veterinary medicine from a very young age. She grew up in Louisiana on a small farm with goats, chickens, and rescue horses. Dr. Joki earned her Bachelor's in Animal Science at Louisiana State University, where she also attended veterinary school. In 2018, Dr. Joki completed her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) and began practicing in Virginia where she cared for companion animals. In 2022 she moved to Dothan, AL with her husband Michael, and young son Wesley to continue her career with the purchase of Westwood Pet Care. She is a member of the local Alabama Veterinary Medical Association (ALVMA) as well as the national organization (AVMA) and remains active with Christian Veterinary Mission (CVM). At home, she has three dogs and an assortment of rabbits and poultry. In her free time, she enjoys hanging out with her pets, doing DIY projects, gardening, backpacking, and camping with her family.
Dr. Amanda Joki is excited to be living and working in Dothan, AL. She is passionate about preventative care for pets and education for pet parents. She also really enjoys wound management and surgery. She is so excited to make new relationships and take care of your pets.
Dr. Pearson
Dr. Ashton Pearson grew up knowing she wanted a career in medicine. Her decision to go into veterinary medicine stemmed from her experience working in a small animal clinic in highschool. She fell in love with the versatility that veterinary medicine offers, including the ability to educate owners, conduct diagnostics and perform surgery all in one day! Dr. Pearson is from Macon, GA and attended the University of Georgia where she received her bachelor’s degree in Animal Science. She then went on to study at Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine where she received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree. Her professional interests include dermatology, ophthalmology, and internal medicine. In her free time, Dr. Pearson and her fiance, a US Army Officer, enjoy going on walks with their dog, cooking, traveling to see family and friends, and reading. Dr. Pearson is excited to practice veterinary medicine in Dothan and work to meet all of your furry friends’ needs!
Michael
Our Practice Manager, Michael was born and raised in Alabama. He attended junior college in Marion, AL, before completing a Bachelor’s degree at LSU, where he met his wife, Amanda. Michael has lived in Alabama, Louisiana, and Virginia before deciding to move back home with his wife and young son, Wesley, in 2022. As an Army Reservist, he has traveled around the world. Michael mostly works in the back office, but when he’s around, you can easily spot him sporting his ACU scrubs. Michael enjoys spending time with his family, petting his dogs, learning new things, and playing video games. Michael’s most interesting pet was a rescue goose named “Goosetave.”
Cheyenne
Hello, I’m Cheyenne a Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) at Westwood Pet Care. I’m originally from Virginia where I earned my credentials from Blue Ridge Community College in December of 2022. My main goals as a veterinary technician are to advocate for those that don’t have a voice, caring for client’s pets as my own, and educating pet parents to care for their pets to ensure a long, healthy life. I strive to deliver exceptional care to all animals I encounter everyday. In my free time I enjoy spending time with my family, going on adventures outside, and reading a good book. My love for animals doesn’t stop at my professional life: I love giraffes, and my home is never boring with my crazy beagle mix, Pepper, and my adorable guinea pig, Nico.
Jodi
Hello! My name is Jodi and I’m so excited to be a part of the Westwood Pet Care team. I was born and raised here in Alabama and found my passion and love working with animals over 6 years ago. In my free time I enjoy eating, going to the beach, and spending time with my fiancé, 2 kids and our basset hound, Tilly, and 2 kitties, Millie and Scamper. We also have a 10ft python who is super sweet but doesn’t get out much 😊
Liz
Hi my name is Elizabeth, receptionist at Westwood Pet Care. Most of my friends and family call me Liz. I have three children and two precious granddaughters. In my free time I spend time with my sweet grandbabies, Marcy and Adelyn. I love to shop and go on trips. Westwood Pet Care has been one of my favorite jobs. I am an animal lover! My coworkers are the best and I love our clients too. Also, I have a cute pet rabbit named Fuzzy Butt. I love music and exploring cultures through their foods. I am especially fond of kittens.
Emily
Hi! I'm Emily and I'm the Kennel Tech at Westwood Pet Care. I have a pet cat named Kiba who loves play time, treats and to adventure in our backyard. My Favorite animal is a Panda Bear. They're so clumsy and look so cute when they're munching on a tasty bamboo snack! One thing I love about working in pet care is seeing the difference we can make when a pet is back to feeling like their normal selves. Another part of my job is to give pets baths when they are brought in. I love to treat it like their spa day where the pets can be bathed and pampered then brushed out so that they can return to their owners clean and happy.

In her personal life, Melanie enjoys spending time with her husband, a US Army Veteran and Department of Defense Civilian, their 2 young children, and a myriad of pets.
