Preparing for Your Pet's Boarding
We understand that boarding your beloved pet can be an emotional experience. You entrust their well-being to us, and we take that responsibility seriously. At Westwood Pet Care, we know that your pet deserves the very best care, especially when you can’t be there to provide it yourself.
Pet Boarding
We have a full boarding kennel with large runs and kennel spaces. Comfort of your pet while you are away is our priority and pets are provided private playtime in our fenced yard (canines only) as well as beds and blankets as allowed in their kennel spaces. We have a private “cat ward” with large kennels to provide a comfortable and stress free environment for your cat while you are away. Our trained kennel technicians monitor and interact with your pet throughout the day and are skilled at medicating pets as needed. For the safety of all boarding animals, we do require all pets to be up to date on their core vaccinations 2 weeks prior to their reservation and have a negative fecal within the past year. Any pets found with fleas will be treated appropriately.
Preparing Your Pet for a Caring Boarding Experience
Before your pet’s stay with us, start by ensuring your pet is healthy and up to date on required vaccines. You can schedule a routine pet exam with us or your primary veterinarian to get your furry friend up to date on vaccinations and check for any underlying health conditions so that there is a plan to address them. We verify that all boarders have the appropriate vaccinations and are healthy enough to board without endangering the health of other boarders. You can find our required boarding paperwork here.
Selecting the right boarding facility is similar to choosing a second home for your pet. Ensuring their safety and comfort is paramount. Here are some essential questions to consider:
- How many pets will be at the facility?
- We often fill up on holidays. We have 9 large dog runs, 8 medium dog kennels, 5 small dog kennels, and 4 cat kennels.
- What’s the proximity of pets to each other?
- Our cat boarding is in a separate area providing a safe, secure, and quiet experience. This helps promote a stress-free environment for cat boarders.
- All kennels and runs have solid dividers to minimize boarding pets from stressing each other.
- All boarders will have their own specific kennel space. However, if requested by the pet parents, and at our discretion, we may allow dog siblings to share a large dog run.
- What level of supervision is provided?
- We have a highly qualified kennel technician team that provides excellent ongoing care for all boarders, including those with special dietary, medical, or physical needs.
- Do the pets get to go outside?
- Dogs are each provided playtime in our spacious fenced-in yard! Also, for a small fee, pet-parents of especially active dogs can request additional playtime.
